Rocco Decicco
Contributing Writer
Rocco Decicco (Queens, New York) - Rocco is a musician, web strategist, and part-time professor based in Queens. He is concerned that 24 hours are not enough to accomplish everything a man needs to in one day. Since he first picked up a guitar 20 years ago, Rocco has been obsessed with creating music and performing it in front of people. For even longer, he has been losing sleep trying to understand what supernatural powers lead his heroes to create the art that shapes his life, and those of countless others.
Rocco spent his formative years in Philadelphia teaching himself how to play guitar, performing with a slew of bands, and eventually becoming a fixture on the local music scene. He fed his eclectic musical appetite by recklessly throwing himself into the local funk, R&B, folk, rock, indie, hip-hop, experimental jazz, and metal scenes. He has recorded on albums by various Philadelphia-based and national artists, performed at renowned venues up and down the East Coast and done a myriad session work. While at it, he was a DJ for LaSalle University radio, a music writer for the university newspaper, and an avid supporter and facilitator for the university’s music scene.
Rocco is confident that his return to music writing will make you laugh, smile, furrow your brow, scratch your chin, stare off thoughtfully into the distance and, most importantly, check out some bands that might take a hold of you. If it does not, your money back is guaranteed…..oh wait, there is no money involved.
